Projects implemented during the 2024–2025 academic year
The communities of Calamba City (Laguna) and San Carlos, Pangasinan, in the Philippines, reflect the reality of many families living in conditions of multidimensional poverty.
- In Calamba, many families live in precarious housing along the banks of the San Juan River, where access to education, food, and basic resources is limited.
- In San Carlos, the economic crisis resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and the sustained increase in inflation have severely affected low-income households, mainly composed of farmers, local vendors, and displaced workers. In both contexts, children and young people face barriers to continuing their education: lack of resources for transportation, food, school supplies, and uniforms, putting at risk their right to a holistic and quality education.

The project
The Asia Scholarships Program seeks to guarantee the educational continuity of vulnerable children and young people in these communities through:
- Transportation and meal subsidies for primary, secondary, and senior high school students.
- Support for the purchase of school supplies.
- Holistic accompaniment and formation, including catechesis meetings, community service activities, and academic and personal follow-up.
- Occasional food assistance for the most affected families to strengthen their food security. This project enables beneficiaries to develop their human, academic, and Christian capacities, with the vision that they may integrate into the workforce, support their families, and contribute positively to society.
Objective
To ensure that children and young people from the communities of Calamba City and San Carlos can continue their education in a holistic manner, overcoming the economic barriers that limit their academic and personal development.
Beneficiaries:
- Calamba City: 21 primary school students, 7 secondary school students, 3 senior high school students
- San Carlos: 21 students from Anunciata School
In total, 52 students receive direct support. Indirectly, their families also benefit through greater educational and food security.
